Title: Soul Growth of Abraham Lincoln.
Publisher: The National Tribune , Washington, DC
Publication Date: 1910
Edition: 1st Edition
Small 4to. Stiff tan wrappers, string tied. 16pp. Illustrations. Outer wrappers (only) poor; internally very good. First edition of this unusual comparison of Lincoln statements with Jesus's Sermon on the Mount. The outer wrapper is printed on a cheap stock that ages and chips easily and thus is usually in poor condition. This copy is no exception, with outer wrapper delicate and chipped and front also bearing numerous homely old tape stains -- but worth preserving, for inside front wrapper bears the pale blue "Private Library" bookplate George P. Hambrecht, noted education official, Lincoln buff and founder of the Lincoln Fellowship of Wisconsin; he notes acquiring this volume in 1922 for $2.00! MONAGHAN 1933. Bookseller Inventory # 36195
