Original 1/4 cloth with printed advertising boards, hinges gone, text block loose in binding. 408 pp. but lacks title page, 20 pages of preliminary ads, and likely more leaves, mostly advertising, at the back. Notwithstanding its defects, however, this is a very rare directory of towns in southwestern Massachusetts, as well as Canaan, Connecticut. While there are leaves missing at the front and back, particuarly among the advertisements, the residential and business listings are complete. Along with the alphabetical listings is a street and house directory which lists residents by street number. There are directory listings for the towns of Great Barrington, Alford, Canaan, Egremont, Mount Washington, Monterey, New Marlboro, Sheffield, Stockbridge, and West Stockbridge. Pages 369-398 comprises business directories by town. Correct pagination and collation is not available as this is not listed in OCLC. Boston Public Library records several holdings of this title for later years, the earliest being 1916.
