Southern Pacific Depots in California Volume 1 by Stephen M. Hayes. Following on from his highly successful book detailing the construction and history of the depots and stations along the Western Pacific route from San Francisco to Salt Lake City, the author is now compiling a companion set covering Southern Pacific Depots in California. To be published in two Volumes, Volume 1 is now available and covers the Southern Pacific Coast and Western Divisions and all associated branches. The book is organized by division and then mileposts. Some pages include earlier stations and their replacements, others of the depot from an earlier and then later era. Includes over 625 historical photographs, many never before published. Color maps on end pages illustrating all locations covered. Original SP Division Maps for Coast and Western Divisions. A full list of all stations from original timetables showing agency type and a summary of still-existing SP depots and stations. Contents: The Depot Types, pp. 5-16; The Coast Division, pp. 17-96; The Coast Branches, pp. 97-124; The Western Division, pp. 125-212; The Western Branches, pp. 213-249; Existing Coast Division Depots, pg. 250; Existing Western Division Depots, pg. 251; Coast Division Stations, pp. 252-253; Western Division Stations, pp. 254-257; Index, 258-259; Acknowledgments, pg. 260.
