Very well attached covers, with generally very good, unworn edges, with a little rubbing to the spines' edges. Contains many very clean and crisp, full page illustrations and engravings. Volume I was printed in 1863, and has viii, 652 very clean pages with occasional brown spots, with a fold-out, color map of the U.S. at the back. Volume II was printged in 1867, and has 648 very clean pages with occasional brown spots. The frontpapers have the inked signature of James B. Forsyth, 1867, later of Boston's Forsyth Dental Clinic.
