A very good minus, clean, sturdy hardcover edition over all with minor shelf wear, light exterior rubbing and some color fading to the spine and cover cloth, soiling to the top fore-edge, and a slight warping to the boards; hinges and binding solid, paper moderately yellowed. Repair evident to front hinge of Vol. I, all other hinges intact. Text block edges toned by age, interiors respectably clean and intact, with a few scattered soil marks. viii,531 + viii,537 pp., illus. w/ hand-colored tissue-paper map of Colton's United States following p. 2 (Vol. I). each volume w/ engraved frontis. and main title.
