Presumed first edition, one of at least four editions published in 1774. This pamphlet protests the British Parliament's enactment of the Intolerable Acts, depriving Massachusetts of the right of self - government in the aftermath of the Boston Tea Party. "A golden speech unspoken, which illustrates the wisdom, justice, foresight, and eloquence of the good bishop. It will not be unpleasant for Americans to hear his opinion---'My Lords, I look upon North America as the only great nursery of freemen now left upon the face of the earth.'"
