Twice captured, the second time he was held first in Jackson, Mississippi then moved to Richmond where he was executed in September 1863. Good copy of the first edition. Red boards with gilt lettering on the spine and front cover along with a gilt Kansas State Seal. Some discoloration on the spine. This copy was formerly owned by the US Navy, there is a "Department of the Navy Equipment" seals imbossed onto 5 pages. Spine ends fraying. No dust jacket. 380 pages. Bookseller Inventory # 5397
