About this title

Synopsis:

In the Lakota tradition, there is a prophecy that a day would come when Westerners would join Native wisdom-keepers to create a new, integrated vision of healing. Dr. Lewis Mehl-Madrona believes that day has come. With The Spirit of Healing, this medical doctor and lifelong student of Native American spirituality invites listeners to learn healing practices informed by both modern medical and psychiatric knowledge and the "narrative medicine" of traditional healers. Using guided imagery, storytelling, and practical exercises, Dr. Mehl-Madrona teaches listeners how to apply Native concepts to enhance our health, spiritual growth, and relationship with the environment.
