Sporting days in southern India details the thrilling adventures of Lieutenant-Colonel Pollock on multiple big game hunts. He describes the strategy in stalking bears, panthers, tigers, bison, elephants, deer, ibex, and other animals. The book is dedicated to his son, Annesley, whom he wishes will become proficient in the sport as well. Pollock's narrative is upbeat and exciting as he manages to capture the thrill of the hunt. He also provides details and helpful information about preparation for camping and travel in the jungle, especially during the monsoon season in India.A member of the Royal Scots Fusiliers, Pollock was born in October 1846, began his military career as an ensign in February 1866, completed his officer's training in 1879, became a lieutenant colonel in 1894 and retired from active service in August 1898.
