Calf spine with six spine compartments between raised bands; black leather label in second compartment with gilt-tooled title; gilt-tooled volume and year in third compartment; marbled paper over boards. Armorial bookplate of William Young on front fixed endpaper, with the motto "Labore." Plates consist of: "Poney Race at Astley's Amphitheatre" -- a portrait of Richard Tattersall (1724-1795) -- "Epping Easter Hunt 1795 the Stag in Burleighs Pond" -- drawings of carriages to accompany a review of Felton's Treatise on Carriages -- punt fishing -- wild boars fighting -- both a view and a plan of Sir William Rowley's dog kennel at Tendring Hall, Suffolk -- and four horses: Hohenloe, Waxey, Dragonm and Mufti. Contents include: list of gold cups won at Doncaster; reports on cricket matches; lists of stallions to cover with cost and lineage; sports-related poetry and legal reports; the racing calendar for 1795 through Sept.; and many other matters related to hunting, cards, and sports of all types. Includes index. Both boards are detached but present; otherwise, in Very Good- Condition: some loss of leather at ends of spine; frontispiece and title pages are attached to front board; final leaf of racing calendar is attached to back board; pages and plates are clean and bright.
