About this title

A woman adventurer, Chris Czajkowski, has the ability to paint with both words and brushes. She provides an intimate look at the Far North... the people, their habitat and she shares her participation in the timeless beauty and stark reality that is the Arctic of today. Although the Arctic has been visited many times, it is still intriguing and stirs the imagination. This is especially true in these times of concern for the environment and protection of local cultures. So come! Take an adventure to the Far North with Chris as she sketches her way across the Tundra in search of the musk ox or oomingmak, as it is know to the native Inuits. In this fascinating book are personal glimpses of life as it really is in the Arctic today. Chris' spontaneous, sensitive sketches and journal capture the spirit of the local people, their town life, and the vast landscape that surrounds them. The trip through this journal is an enlightening adventure and a memorable experience to this enchanted land of extremes. Chris Czajkowski grew up in the north of England and originally trained in agriculture. Her taste for travel and adventure began when she taught at a farm school in Uganda. She then traveled widely through Asia, Australia, the South Pacific, then to Panama and South America. She then emigrated to Canada from where she did her Artic trips. She has had several one-person shows, and has work in galleries in Vancouver. She has shared her experiences in many of Canada's leading magazines.
