About the Author:

Efiri Matthias Selemobri, M.S.P., was born into a first generation Christian/Catholic family in Nigeria. Great grandson of Efiri, a priest of the African Traditional Religion, Fr. Selemobri was ordained a Catholic priest for the Missionary Society of Saint Paul on June 22nd, 1991. His first priestly assignment was with the vocation and formation departments of the Missionary Society of St. Paul in Nigeria from 1991 to 1994. He worked as a Missionary in Cameroon in 1995 and was sent to work in the USA in July 1996. Known as Fr. Matthias in the USA, he has in the last thirteen years (1996 - 2009) celebrated Mass and spoken in more than 340 Catholic churches in the USA; he has led mission pilgrimages to various destinations in Africa, the Americas and Oceania, he is now spending a year of sabbatical at St. Mary Catholic Church, Garden City, Kansas. Fr. Matthias was educated in Nigeria. He also has a Master of Arts in theological studies degree from the University St. Thomas, Houston, Texas. Besides his native Izon (Nigerian) language, Fr. Matthias speaks with differing levels of fluency English, French and Spanish.
