About the Author: After attending the U.S. Naval Academy, and serving for a time as a commissioned officer, he joined the staff of FOREST AND STREAM magazine as editor of its yachting section. He held that position for several years, when he set-out for more lucrative endeavors. He is thought to have been lost at sea in 1889.
