About this title

An 8 1/2" X 11" dust-jacketed, coffee-table book of light-verse poetry (poetry that amuses) written for people who fancy their poetry the old-fashioned way--that is, with rhythm and rhyme in understandable language--and printed in Black Chancery font. The verse is principally humorous with a few reflective poems included for balance. Each poem has an illustrated prologue on the facing page. The contents include 57 poems, a preface, and pertinent introductory material. The jacket flaps contain information about the book and the author. The price of $9.95 is $4.50 less than its cost of manufacture, but the book was written not for commercial gain but, rather, because I like to write this stuff and hear--or at least, imagine--the applause.

About the Author:

John Price, 75 years of age and a Parachute Infantry Officer with the Screaming Eagles in WW II, retired to the region of north Georgia ten years ago after a career as an internal management consultant with the international operations of Ford Motor Company and Olin Corporation. During the work years, he also taught management and business subjects in the evening programs of various educational institutions and wrote magazine articles on like topics. In retirement he has authored poetry columns in newspapers of Florida, North Carolina, and Georgia, and published poems and articles in numerous poetry journals and magazines. He is the winner of two international poetry competitions (one of 5,400 entrants) and is a life member of the Robert Burns Society of Edinburgh, Scotland. He and his partner give ballroom dancing exhibitions in the local area and he teaches ballroom dancing at various institutions--currently, at three different sites--in and around Hiawassee.
