Spine lined and lettered in gilt with the initials "M.A.M." in one compartment.214 pps. with title page printed in red and black. Frontispiece, title page vignette and at least two other illustrations by C.D. Gibson; several other illustrations scattered through the text. Collection of five short stories which originally appeared in the pages of Scribner's Magazine. Included are "Mrs. Manstey's View" by Edith Wharton; "From Four to Six: A Comedietta" by Annie Eliot; "The Commenest Story Possible" by Bliss Perry; "The End of the Beginning" by George A.
