About this Item

557 pages; index; "Go Ye Therefore and Teach All Nations" tissue-guarded color frontispiece illustration by Harold Copping, other color plates by him throughout the text; with three autograph signatures on the front endpaper: Basil Rathbone, Cornelia Otis Skinner and one other (indecipherable); Basil Rathbone (1892-1967) English actor, most famous for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes and of movie villains in Robin Hood and Mark of Zorro; Cornelia Otis Skinner (1901-1979) American author and actress; we can offer no explanation for the signatures being in this book, it may simply be that the page was available when the (unknown) recipient proferred the book for the signatures, also there may be some radio or theatre performance connection between Skinner and Rathbone and the unknown 3rd signatory that we have not yet found; original blue cloth binding, gilt cover and spine titles, dulled; some wear to cloth; very good condition and interesting for the autographs of these Hollywood and theater greats.
