Synopsis: Exact reprint of 1961 Dujarie Press printing. In 1840, Pauline opened a day nursery in Paderborn, Germany to care for the young children of working mothers. A short time later, she bought a house to care for blind children. In 1849, Pauline founded the Sisters of Christian Charity for women who wanted to devote themselves to educating children and caring for the blind and needy. When the German government forced their convents to close, many of the Sisters of Christian Charity were sent to America and began teaching in Catholic schools. Reading this story can encourage us to follow in the footsteps of Blessed Pauline von Mallinckrodt, who lovingly attended to the spiritual welfare and education of children.
