G.P. Putnamís Sons, NY. Ropes first builds the political picture leading up to the Civil War, then covers the struggled itslef through the campaigns on 1862. He attempts to show the objectives of the campaigns in relation to each other to build the readers understanding. Both volumes are in Good+ condition, no dust jackets. Both have light shelf wear, the previous owners embossed stamp on the title page and pencil notes on the front end page. Gilded lettering on the spines is bright, and the bindings and hinges are strong. Volume 2 has part of the lesson plan glued into the front end page. Volume 1 has 5 fold out maps in rear and is 274 pages. Volume 2 has 13 fold out maps in rear and is 475 pages. One of the maps, that showing the posotion of the armies around Richmond on 31 May 1862 has some pencil notes on the top edge. Bookseller Inventory # 2785
