First edition. Olive green cloth lettered and decorated in black and violet. 294 pp. With four full page color drawings by Charlotte Lederer. A history of gypsies, tracing their origins to the middle ages, with chapters on gypsies in each of 9 countries (Macedonia, Romania, Hungary, France, Spain, Germany, Russia, England and America) as well as nomadic tribes. The author, a Romanian by birth, spent extensive time among the gypsies as a youth; he later wound up in Hollywood and his gypsy tales found their way in a number of movies.
