Store Description

The Neighbourhood Bookstore and Cafe is a used bookstore in a diverse, urban neighbourhood. We are lucky to have one of the more literate populations in the city as well as a healthy mix of readers, teachers and writers so we get a lot of esoteric and specialized books. We have limited shelfspace, the walls are all books, no doubles, and stock is regularly turned over. We currently have enough stock to completely stock two extra stores of the same size and we obsess about condition and cleanliness. New customers often ask if books are new or used.

Terms of Sale:

We guarantee the condition of every book as it's described on the Abebooks web sites. If you're dissatisfied with your purchase (Incorrect Book/Not as Described/Damaged) or if the order hasn't arrived, you're eligible for a refund within 30 days of the estimated delivery date. If you've changed your mind about a book that you've ordered, please use the Ask bookseller a question link to contact us and we'll respond within 2 business days.

Shipping Terms:

Shipping terms are for average books delivered to North American addresses. Extra charges may apply but in general we would only ask if it is a huge difference. Canadian shipping rates have been horrible since the Harper government, who expressly stated that "everyone uses email now" and tried to dismantle the mail system thereafter. We generally back a book with cardboard, seal it in plastic and use a recycled bubblemailer but packaging may change depending on the size or value of the book. We are very particular about condition.
