About this Item

The Strange Woman, based on a notorious novel by Ben Ames Williams, was shot at Samuel Goldwyn Studios and released by United Artists in 1946 starring Hedy Lamarr. This synopsis was probably attached to a MGM Inter-Office Communication. The first page (mimeographed) reads Syn. for Mr. MacKenna (Kenneth MacKenna, an actor and director, was Story Editor at MGM) from H. N. Swanson. Inc.(H. N. Swanson was a literary agent who represented many famous writers including F. Scott Fitzgerald). At the top of the page: CONFIDENTIAL - PROPERTY OF LOEW'S INCORPORATED AND NOT TO BE TAKEN FROM LOT. It is dated 8/1/41. Below is a short summary bound by 3 staples to the 20 mimeographed sheets of the synopsis. Page 2, which contains a reader's positive comment, is attached at the end.
