About this Item

Col Summers was a leading expert on the Vietnam war, including mistakes made, battles won and lost, etc. His observations are still highly relevant as the US continues to engage in major undeclared wars with less than decisive results. Book Condition: Near Fine. Light gree wrappers, black lettering, with slight fading on the rear cover near the spine. Otherwise a tight and firm copy, no underlining. This copy was inscribed on the title page on 1-31-88 to a senior US foreign service officer: For ---- , Harry Summers Jr. Summers's analysis applies Clausewitz's principles to the actual conduct of the war. A controversial study even before publication, this has since come to be recognized as one of the core books on the "lessons of Vietnam." This is a 1983 printing of the 1982 revised edition, which added ten pages of new material. A unique and trenchant copy of an important book. Bookseller Inventory # 160131
