About this Item

First edition. Purplish paper covered boards with a beige spine. 51 pp. A collection of poetry by Mercedes De Acosta, an American playwright and poet. While her written work was unsuccessful commercially, De Acosta was perhaps better known for her lesbian relationships with various well known women in the early to mid 1900s. This includes Isadora Duncan, as well as a close friendship with Greta Garbo, among others. De Acosta was also known for her openness in living as a lesbian (see Wikipedia for biographical information). GOOD condition. Paper mostly separated from the backstrip, hanging on along the center rear hinge, with an area missing from the lower spine. Heavy uneven fading and scuffing to the covers and extremities. Old tape reinforcements at the corners. Some foxing to the covers. Gift inscription in the interior. Minor scattered foxing. Bookseller Inventory # 009601
