Description:

4to. XXXIX, (1), 461pp. (1). Original blue cloth with gold lettering on spine and front cover. Büchler wrote in the early 20th century at a time when Judaism was generally ignored in the academic world or the subject of Christian and anti-Semitic polemics. There is an undoubtedly apologetic tone to the work, but that fact does not diminish its significance. Apologetic or not, Büchler's Studies constitute an important contribution to the study of biblical Israel and ancient Judaism. Binding and interior in overall very good condition. Book Description KTAV Publishing House, New York, 1967. Hardcover. Book Condition: Near Fine. Beautiful book. You can see the covers in the first three photographs. They are very clean and in terrific shape (Note that the third photo of the rear cover seems to suggest some white clouding. That is just a distortion caused by the texture of the cover). The gilt lettering on the spine is as bright as I've seen it. and there isn't any wear that needs to be called out. I'll let the photographs speak for themselves. The book is square and tight and very solidly bound. The pages are exceptionally clean. Even the page edges. Scrolling through the book, I didn't see any soiling or staining. That goes for the inside covers and end papers as well. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. Nor are there any markings or attachments. I didn't see any creases or dogeared corners. As I said, a beautiful book. In English with some Hebrew in the footnotes. Bookseller Inventory # 001084
