About this Item

Scarce. 31 pp. in printed stiff wrappers. No date (internal evidence indicated 1918) Pamphlet issued by the New York City Subway IRT Company arguing for an 8-cent subway fare. It presents as positives the avoidance of higher taxes, higher rents and highre prices and positives such as preserving City credit, state credit and national credit. The claim was that New York City was facing annual deficits of $13-15 million operating a dual subway system under the 5-cent fare; part of the blame is laid on World War I. (They didn't get their increase). Fine. Bookseller Inventory # GE13233
