Book Description The Steven-Davis Co., Chicago, 1918. First edition. Quarto (7 x 11 inches). 6 stiff leaves, with each leaf bearing (front and back) four printed gilt frames in which a card bearing the Talk was to be pasted (i.e. 8 to a page plus the inner rear wrapper for a total of 52). This copy bears 50 of the 52 cards (although 4 are duplicates; none wants to look bad). Each card was printed in colors and contained the copyright symbol. Interleaved with onionskin in a spider web pattern. Publisher's printed blue wrappers, title on front in raised lettering in gilt and dark blue, string sewn. An abrasion on the lower rear cover and some general aging but a very good copy.Celebrating aphorisms no longed held in esteem, the book was presented to an employee with one card. Each pay period a new card would be given to each employee to be glued into the book. Since assembly of the complete book required the correct actions of the employee, the number of cards in these albums varies wildly. That this copy has 50 cards speaks highly of this employees mettle. Seller Inventory # 73596
