About this Item

"First edition" stated; no dates later than 1975. The number line is odd; it reads 7890 / 432109876. DJ not price clipped; original $7.95 price showing. The book is "as new" and probably unread. Dust jacket nearly perfect but shows slight brownish stain to lower right of front panel from the adhesive of an original circular retail price sticker, barely noticeable but mentioned for completeness. (See scan.) An important book, initially met by much skepticism in the medical community, which asserts many ailments generally treated with drug and other therapies will answer to the simple elimination of Western man's addictive overuse of C12H22O11 -- refined white sugar. File under "Carbohydrates, refined -- physiological effect" and/or "Nutritionally induced diseases." From the author of "Lady Sings the Blues," this book is rarely encountered in such collectible condition. 194 pp. including index. Reduced from $240. Bookseller Inventory # 002509

About this title

Synopsis:

It's a prime ingredient in countless substances from cereal to soup, from cola to coffee. Consumed at the rate of one hundred pounds for every American every year, it's as addictive as nicotine -- and as poisonous. It's sugar. And "Sugar Blues", inspired by the crusade of Hollywood legend Gloria Swanson, is the classic, bestselling expose that unmasks our generation's greatest medical killer and shows how a revitalizing, sugar-free diet can not only change lives, but quite possibly save them.
