Numbered extracts from the Summa Philosophica of Thomas Aquinas (c.1224-1287). Inserted are 4 finely engraved portraits of Sts. Thomas Aquinas (frontis.), Gregorius, Ambrosius and Bonaventura and two decorated charts ëSquares of Oppositioní. In Aristotelian logic, the ëSquares of Oppositioní diagrams represent the different ways in which each of the four propositions of the system are logically related or 'opposed' to each of the others.
