About this title

Sunlit Hearts is a romantic novel exploring the personal feelings and struggles of Medha, a budding author, and the love she has for two men in her life. In college, she falls in love with Nikhil, who does not share the same feelings for her. Forced to suppress her feelings of true love, Medha agrees to an arranged marriage to Rishi. After sixteen years in this sedate marriage, the lives of Medha and Nikhil cross again, rekindling her feelings for him. Medha finds herself at the crossroads of a failing marriage and searing passion for a man she has always loved. Now as a successful writer, her soul searching escalates, the lackluster feelings in her failing marriage cannot be denied, the pressures of motherhood surmount, and her earlier feelings for Nikhil are awakened and are, at last, mutual. Does she have to pass through the one she loves in order to get back to the one who loves her? The feelings and conflicts that she experiences during this pivotal point in her life push and pull her mind, heart, and soul to the ultimate limits. The author, Meenu Mehrotra, has an intimate understanding of the frailty of human emotions which is skillfully portrayed through Medha’s strong life lessons of loss, love, despair, and loneliness. She learns that her destiny is full of the joys and sorrows determined by her choices, and it is necessary to survive the storms of her relationships to experience all that life has to offer. This dramatic, authentic telling of one woman’s walk through the storms of life, love, loss, and her ultimate self-realization will dramatically touch your soul, and force you to examine your own inner self, illuminating many components common to all of us. Written from the heart, this intense story served as the author’s own catharsis. Mehrotra challenges readers of both sexes to examine their own feelings, fears, doubts, and dreams described through the legitimate characters of Sunlit Hearts, and thereby, embrace the genuine life that is available for the fearless to enjoy.
