See all scans, and description. Seattle: University of Washington Chapbooks, 1929. First Edition. With the scarce dustjacket. 12mo, University of Washington Chapbooks Number Thirty, 30 pp. Signed and inscribed by Benjamin DeCasseres in New York on January 12th, 1930 to Irma Duncan, the disciple, foster-daughter and close business associate of Isadora Duncan, about whom this essay was in part written. "To Irma Duncan, whose great art has given me infinite pleasure". In original wraps with original peach jacket, showing $ .65 price. Inside covers are beige. Many pages unopened at top, including copyright page, which precludes scanning of that page; however, copyright page does state, as is correct, "Copyright, 1929, by Glenn Hughes" at the top and "Printed in the United States of America" at bottom. Near Fine / Near Fine; a demure crease to cover of jacket, affecting a few inside pages; traces of light soil on rear jacket cover. See scan. A thirty page essay by DeCasseres on the Nietzschean concept of the Superman as adopted in American culture by that time, in his opinion. Isadora Duncan is referenced as the female version of that icon: "She danced over life, she underwent all agonies.she was mother, sweetheart, sister, daughter, Madonna-Isolde-Dionysia all in one.one of the greatest, most fearless women in all history." A singular and irreplaceable little chapbook. Top Provenance. Lsmph2. Signed by Author(s). Bookseller Inventory # 000002
