Edition: First Edition.
First Edition (with Shakspeare instead of Shakespeare). Red cloth boards with gilt decoration of a protrait of Shakespeare and cherubs pulling back the curtain. Gilt letters and decorations on spine also. 1/2" of red chipped off the bottom of the spine and a small tear at the top. There is also a tear along the top front spine edge of about 1 1/2". Minor wear to all other edges. The pages are bright and clean, without markings or folds. This is an ex-lib with a minimum of markings. A small pastedown inside the cover reads, "Vassar College Library Gift of Herbert E. Mills" and is stamped "Withdrawn". There is an imbossed stamp from Vassar College Library, also stamped "Withdrawn", a small area on the spine with numbers and a clean white pocket inside the back cover. This copy is very clean and charming with some lovely engraved illustrations. The seven dramas are; The Two Nobel kinsmen, The London Prodigal, Thomas Lord Cromwell, Sir John Oldcastle, The Puritan, or the Widow of Watling Street, The Yorkshire Tradgey, and The Tradgedy of Locrine.
