About this Item
Second Edition. - Saint Louis, The C.V. Mosby Company, 1965, 8°, XVI, 586 pp., zahlr. Abbildungen, orig. Leinenband. Sometimes, when I am in an ironical frame of mind, I reflect on the three unique features that distinguish man from all other primates-his big head, his uprigh posture, and his feet. He plans atomic destruction with the first; says of the second, "Oh my aching back!"; and of the third, "My feet are killing me!" Therefore, when Dr. Du Vries' book was published in 1959, I was very pleased to see the epigraph by Frederic Wood Jones. It is a trenchant reminder of the uniqueness of one of these features, the human foot-a feature we are apt to take for granted, ignore, or even abuse. "Man's foot is all his own . . . and whether he be proud of it or not, it is his hall-mark . . . ." I was also pleased when I went on to read the book. It is a comprehensive procedural study on surgery of the foot. Most particularly, it contains precise and detailed information on the treatment of minor foot ailments, which- although sometimes considered unworthy of a specialist's attention-constitute the largest quantity of foot disorders. In addition to his thirty years of practical experience Dr. DuVries brought a high level of intelligence and perception to the preparation of this material, and during the past five years it has been an invaluable aid to all those concerned with surgery of the foot." Forword, Verne T. Inman, Ph.D., M.D. Seller Inventory # 68400
