About this Item

177 photos inserted in photo windows on both sides of thick album leaves. High quality amateur photos taken with a good camera although the detail is not sharp on absolutely all photos. Photos generally 8 x 10cm. A great majority of the photos are accompanied with brief captions in white ink of the album page. Two unused pages at end. Oblong album with dark green cloth covers. 30 x 23cm. The first 67 photos are of Switzerland, mostly snowy mountains and a only a few with climbers skiers. The album abruptly transitions to Kalimpong in photos captioned March 1926 and remains in British India for the next 107 photos. There are a few photos taken at tea estates (Hasimara, Rajabhat and Bharnobari). 20 photos proudly display the interior and exterior of "our first home" at 2 Penn Road in Alipore (including a photo of the 12 members of their domestic staff). Also included are 24 photos, mostly of various tourist sites visited around India (Benares, Lucknow, New Delhi, Agra and Fatehpur Sikri), which is headed "Masonic Deputation January 1928." The album finishes with four photos that appear to be somewhere in England (a large home and an attractive car). Bookseller Inventory # 79573
