The original dust jacket is in very good plus to near fine condition. $2.00 price present of the front flap. Minor tears to the extremities with a scratch across the front panel. The book is in fine condition. Very difficult to find this book so well preserved. An early work in espionage by the woman who would become a Grandmaster of Science Fiction & Fantasy, this was the first in a sword trilogy based on events of World War II and shortly after. A fast paced story with insight into the oppression of the Netherlands by the occuppying German forces. This is the first book in a trilogy which includes Sword in Sheath and At Sword's Points. The protagonist is Lorens Van Norreys, descendent of Dutch merchant adventurers. The story opens as the Netherlands is about to fall to the Germans and Lorens is told by his dying grandfather that he must keep the secret of a historic piece of jewelry, significant in Dutch history.
