Contemporary pink paper-covered boards, printed in black, backed in gilt-tooled calf; plain endpapers; xxx, 336,[2], [i]-[viii] [9]-88pp; 7 full-page plates and numerous in-text relief illustrations. A sound copy, with general moderate wear, especially to board edges, occasional discoloration, but overall Very Good. Two detailed works of geography, the first with information on geology, "countries, their climate and productions; the prevailing religions, forms of government, and degrees of civilization" (including a bigoted racial breakdown). With geological diagrams and views of geological landmarks (Niagara Falls, Icelandic geysers, Giants' Causeway) and international capitals from Edinburgh to Beijing.
