Description:

Vintage original 22 x 28" (55 x 70 cm.) half sheet poster, USA. John Brinkley, Ed Nelson, Tony Miller, Pat George, Coleman Francis, Nola Thorp, dir: Richard Harbinger; The Filmgroup. Amongst the "juvenile delinquent" films of the 1950s, this is one of the best. It is the story of a teenager doing bad, but seemingly for the right reason. When teen Frank Simmons' father is murdered by a gang who robs the warehouse he guards, Frank vows to avenge his death. He meets the leader of the gang, joins them and works jobs for the gang, all the while he is an undercover man for the police to gain evidence against them. Jack Nicholson -- who was friends with producer Roger Corman (having just appeared in THE CRY BABY KILLER) -- posed with the cast for publicity stills to promote this film. The image on this half sheet is a similar pose to that on lobby card no. 3. Nicholson is at center with the two other men at the left of the car. Poster was folded in four and has a few pinholes at the blank white margins. There is also a crease about 1" (2.5 cm.) from the right side down the poster (small bit of archival paper at the very bottom) and a crease about 1 1/2" (4 cm.) from the left side. Very rare poster which is really clean with wonderful color. NEAR FINE. Bookseller Inventory # 10516

Book Description Filmgroup, 1959. No Binding. Book Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Vintage original 27 x 41" (68 x 105 cm.) one sheet poster, USA. John Brinkley, Ed Nelson, Tony Miller, Pat George, Coleman Francis, Nola Thorp, dir: Richard Harbinger; The Filmgroup. Amongst the "juvenile delinquent" films of the 1950s this is one of the best. It is the story of a teenager doing bad, but seemingly for the right reason. When teen Frank Simmons' father is murdered by a gang who robs the warehouse he guards, Frank vows to avenge his death. He meets the leader of the gang, joins them and works doing jobs for the gang, all the while he is an undercover man for the police, to gain evidence against them. Iconic modernistic art including the ever-popular 1950s Ford Thunderbird. Today, it is this poster, with its modernistic design that is remembered, sought after and highly collectible. Folded, the poster displays tears with missing paper at the top left and right corners, as well as pinholes and soiling to the top white blank margin edge at left, there is minor creasing at the folds, an area of creasing at the lower left bottom portion of the poster and 1" (3 cm.) center fold separation at the very bottom. The poster otherwise is immaculate, with the art and color pristine. VERY GOOD+. Bookseller Inventory # 10623
