The portrait measures 10" by 7" with the image and facsimile autograph centered; protective tissue guard in place. Engraving by A. H. Ritchie. Theophilus T. Vandergrift was born in Pittsburgh in 1846 and early in life embarked upon a career in the oil industry. He was broadly regarded as an authority on the production of oli and natural gas in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia.
