Published and printed in Taiwan, but apparently intended for an American audience and distributed through the Chinese Embassy, Cheng's book has become a standard for practitioners of this martial art and remains in print to this day. Cheng himself relocated to the US shortly after this book appeared and was instrumental in the popularization of Tai Chi in the States. He was known as the "Master of Five Excellences," for his command of the Chinese arts of medicine, t'ai chi ch'uan, calligraphy, painting and poetry. OCLC locates just six holdings Cheng's TAI CHI CHUAN in the US and three internationally. A rare example of one of the first books (indeed our research suggests only the second) dedicated to Tai Chi in English. Bookseller Inventory #
