Book Description Pacific Stars and Stripes, 1955. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. First Edition of the AUTHOR'S FIRST BOOK in Very Good Plus condition with no dust jacket. Shel Silverstein was a tour de force, a creative genius who not only wrote phenomenal poetry and sold more than 20 million copies of his books, he also received two GRAMMY AWARDS, a GOLDEN GLOBE NOMINATION, and an ACADEMY AWARD NOMINATION. But Shel wanted to start out as a cartoonist, tracing the works of Al Capp at age 7. Shel would first come to public attention as a cartoonist for Pacific Stars and Stripes; it was a compilation of these cartoons that led to this, his first book, Take Ten. Shel's cartoons found wider appeal and the artist found his voice through stories, poetry, and music. This book is scarce, especially in this condition. Seller Inventory # 001016
