About this Item

First Edition Decorated throughout with a profusion of photographs and illustrations. 4to, publisher’s original white cloth over blue boards, the spine lettered in gilt, original decorated and printed dustjacket. xxvii, 129 pp A very good and bright copy, clean throughout, the dustjacket once affixed at the turnovers, separation at the gutter of pp. 126-127. FIRST EDITION. R. Buckminster Fuller conceived of this story when he began telling his daughter Allegra her favorite story--Goldilocks and the Three Bears--every night. Each night, he would alter the story a little bit and increasingly included material from his scientific seminars. He "became convinced that through imagined expansion of the recallable inventory of fundamental experiences of the child, achieved through description of analogous experiences of others, altered only in magnitude and always similar in principle to the child’s experience recalls, it would be possible to effectively induce that child’s discovery of the most complex and profound phenomena." In this way, Fuller attempts to explain the structure of the universe, people’s place in it and his theory of synergy in an accessible and entertaining way. ARTnews commented on the book: "‘Tetrascroll incorporates art, science and history, the past, present and the future most eloquently. It should be a stimulating mental and visual venture for all humanitarians.’". Bookseller Inventory # 16163
