Small album style publication for collecting fingerprints and autographs of family and friends. H 16.5cm x L 9cm; bound so that the interior leaves are only H 12cm with bottom 4cm of interior rear board being presumably where the fingerprint ink pad was once present as glue residue is all that now remains. Dark aquamarine cloth soiled, front board marred by white paint splatter stain overlapping cloth and onto center inset brown paper title label with gilt stamped lettering. Endpapers browned, ownership signature of "Willie G. Abbay | Tunica | Miss" on front free endpaper. Unnumbered interior leaves with blank verso and rectos divided in two columns for autographs and thumb-o-graphs; first page has three signatures of Willie Abbay dated Nov. 1912 with three fingerprint images; second leaf with two signatures and thumbprints of Elizabeth Lowe[?]; third leaf with two signatures and thumbprints dated Dec. 1912 of Mary Abbay Leatherman; parental signatures and thumbprints on fourth leaf; smudges fingerprint impressions on fifth, sixth, and seventh leaves with no accompanying signatures. All other leaves blank. The Abbay family owned the Abbay & Leatherman plantation in Commerce, Mississippi which is best remembered as where blues legend Robert Johnson received the bare rudiments of an education while a young child. Johnson (1911-1938) lived in the Robinsonville, MS area from age 5 to 19 or so when his itinerant lifestyle of ever-wondering blues musician took over. Bookseller Inventory #
