About this Item

Square 4to. (24 x 24 cm.) unpaged [28p.]. Brown and yellow paper over boards with a vignette in yellow on both the front and back covers of a little boy holding out two hats, one in each hand. Dust jacket repeats these images. Some wear to extremities with the corners just rubbed through, touches of rubing to the edges, a couple of darkened spots where chips are missing from the dust jacket, slight odor of tobacco smoke, previous owner's signature on front pastedown (May Ann Havns) else near fine to fine with no internal markings. Dust jacket has several small chips missing and one thumb-sized chip missing from the rear panel, the whole lightly soiled, else very good. Born in Long Branch, NJ in 1917, Mel Ferrer was an American actor, film director and film producer. After dropping out of Princeton Univesity, Ferrer worked as the editor of a small town newspaper and wrote this children's book TITO'S HATS. He was married at one time to actress Audrey Hepburn, with whom he starred in "War and Peace" (1955). He starred in many other well-known Hollywood movies. He died in 2008 at the age of 90. "Tito's barber shop adventure, which finally means that the hat his heart is set upon is no longer just the smallest bit too small. So, with Tito and his father when they return from the market, is this brand new hat which now fits perfectly, and presents for the rest of the family". [from the dust jacket] This little story is set in Mexico. Bookseller Inventory # 008089
