(10), 422pp. A fine copy, the gilt very bright and lustrous, the binding tight and clean and very beautifully preserved, the text block clean and fresh. This is John Fox Jr.ís most famous novel, and his most successful, it was included among the top ten list of best-selling novels for 1908 and 1909. The novel has been adapted numerous times for both stage and screen, the most notable being a 1936 adaptation directed by Henry Hathaway and starring Sylvia Sidney, Henry Fonda, and Fred MacMurray.
