Book Description Harper & Row with Outdoor Life, 1972. Hardcover. Book Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. An attractive copy of the First Edition, publisher's Blue Cloth Hard Cover, in a very nice Dust Jacket. Cloth very good looking, just a hint of handling evident; gilt titles on the spine perfect & legible. Contents clean & crisp throughout; endpapers not split, but front paste down has two [ of three ] errata slips attached with yellowed clear tape, the missing errata slip leaving a tape stain; a tiny bit of tape glue offset to the front free endpaper. [ The errata slips are duplicates ] The Dust Jacket shows just a bit of wear, flaking at the corners, a tiny wrinkle at the top of the spine, Near Fine but for these ever-so-minimal flaws; areas of white tanned slightly. DJ still has the original price of $8.95 on the front flap. Contents: 124 color plates, 25 black & white photo reproductions, 57 line drawings. Drawings by Tom Beecham, very well done, showing details of fishing techniques & trouting know-how. Brooks had a reputation for both fine writing, but for masterful fishing technique, much of which is shared in this volume. Measures 7.7" by 9.5"+/- [ 24cm by 19.7cm ] 302 pages; Index; Chapter on Trout Flies. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: "Joe Brooks (Joseph White Brooks) 1901-1972 was an American Fly Fisherman and popular writer about the sport of fly fishing during the mid-20th century. . . . He wrote for the leading fishing and outdoor magazines of the day and was the outdoor editor for The Baltimore Sun. He also wrote ten books about fly fishing, several of which are still considered leading authorities on the subject. He is listed by a leading online fly fishing publication, Fly Fishing Frenzy, as one of the 10 most influential fishermen ever. And the IGFA and others said he did more to popularize and expand fly fishing than any other individual. . . . Joe Brooks pioneered fly fishing for species that previously were thought impossible to catch with a fly. He is also one of the first to pioneer 'adventure fly fishing' by traveling to remote places around the world that had never been fly fished before."
