Title: TWO ON A TOWER (Scarce 1886 Reprint)
Publisher: Dodd, Mead
Publication Date: 1886
Book Condition: Very Good
Hardy, Thomas. TWO ON A TOWER. NY: Dodd, Mead, 1886. Early Reprint. A VERY GOOD example (lightly worn) of this uncommon early edition of one of the best of Hardy's lesser known novels (original published in London as a three-volume first edition in 1882). While early American reprints of Hardy's work can often be inelegant in appearance, this is a beautiful reprint done up by Dodd, Mead with a fantastic dragon as the front cover's pictorial ornamentation. Dodd, Mead published no other Hardy titles and, as one might expect from this kind of random imprint situation, this is the first example of the particular edition we've seen in the last fifteen years or so of keeping track of pre-1890 Hardy reprints.
