About this Item

This is the true first edition, 1887 publication. Condition: There is a previous owner's book plate to the front endpaper, on the title page there is a plate placed below the publication year from Theosophical Book Concern in Boston, Mass- may be where the book was originally sold. The book is edgeworn with the corners in particular where the blue cloth has been worn down to expose the boards. There is foxing to the endpapers but not to the interior. There is water damage to the back cover, covers ~4"x2" area midway alongside the edge of the book which shows throughout the pages either some or not at all- the water damage to the edges of the pages is ~2" and goes in ~1/4"-1/2" deep. All text and plates are free of foxing and water damage. The book is in Fair to Good Condition but as the binding is tight and all the pages are free of most detriment I would call this a solid Good Condition due to the age and scarcity of the title. Book Description: Landscape format folio, 15" x 11.5", xvi + 20pp. Blue cloth covered boards with gold inlay for text and cover design. Two tipped in plates, one of the Isis Tablet opposite the title page and the other has two diagrams, one is Ã’The Diagram of Eliphaz LeviÃ" and the second is Ã’WestcottÕs Diagram From The Views Of KircherÃ". The title page is printed in red and black. Double-column printing. Published in 1887 in a Limited Edition run of 100 copies. This is W. Wynn Westcott's study of the Isiac Tablet, an ancient Egyptian artifact that was sold to Cardinal Bembo by a soldier in 1527. The tablet is made of bronze, and is covered with representations of Egyptian deities and hieroglyphs, and was said to have been part of the temple of Isis (hence the verb "Isiac"). It attracted the attention of writers on esoteric subjects from Athanasius Kircher through to Eliphas Levi, all of whose opinions were recorded and examined by Westcott in his study. Westcott was one of the founders of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, the fraternity in which Aleister Crowley received his early training in magic and would make a profound influence on his own studies in the occult. Terms of Sale:

Private merchant account, no taxes on sales and a standard shipping fee in accordance to rates.

Shipping Terms:

U.S. Shipping:
We ship our books according to media rate through the US Postal Services. This is the cheapest way for us to ship you your books. We will contact you if shipping will cost more than the listed price. Please note that heavier and larger-sized books will cost more to ship as the general shipping cost is used for average-weight/sized books. If you would like your book insured, specifically packed or delivered faster it will cost more and you will need to contact us.

All our packages are wrapped in foam, bubble wrap, peanuts or a combination thereof.

International Shipping:
As a standard for shipping, we ship all our books in a Global Priority Flat Rate mailer envelope. This costs just a couple bucks more than ground and will get there in 4 to 10 business days instead of the one to two months it would for Ground. Priority in a box costs a bit more (about 17.50,) but has that added bit of protection. We're more than happy to ship Ground for $9.00 or Express for $30.00. Let us know what you prefer if the option isn't listed.

All our packages are wrapped in foam, bubble wrap, peanuts or a combination thereof.
