Original green morocco-backed green pebbled cloth, with fairly crisp gilt-stamped lettering and design to the hubbed leather spine. Some rubbing along the spine edges. The spine head and tail are generally unbumped and the corners are fairly sharp. With a B&W steel engraving frontispiece of the author, and with a landscape scene of Papeete including the queen's house, and with a portrait of Queen Pomare, all protected by fine tissue-guards. Also present is a pull-out map in pristine condition with two hand-colored flags. All edges marbled to a handsome effect. Marbled endpapers. Inscribed by the author on the FEP opposite the half-title page, "To Lady Cooper hommage de l'auteur Th. Arbousset." Exceptionally clean, inside and out. Virtually no foxing. A very attractive book.
