William Thomes (1824-1895) was an American adventure author who published over a dozen books, the most famous being 'On Land and Sea' (1883), an account of his adventures in the hide and tallow trade along the west coast during the first half of the 19th century. His other works are more fiction than reality and deal with the sea and Australia. Very good copy of this press book. Bookseller Inventory # 14324
