About this Item

Full leather. Boards detached; previous owner's bookplate (pretty, gilt-stamped red morocco) on FFEP. An excellent candidate for rebinding, with clean text block, and 8 plates (collates complete). Some particularly interesting plates include the frontispiece to "Tale of a Tub" (image of a whale), plate #7 (an asylum? kinda creepy), and 8 (frontispiece for "Battle," a wonderful library scene). Eighth Edition, with the Author's Apology and Explanatory Notes. Bookseller Inventory # D4368
