12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. 368p., 8 leaves of plates, illustrations, one of the great compilatons with chapters on Marco olo, the old Slave Trade, Alvardo Nunez; John Fox, along with many others. The author was the son of Charles Kingsley and was one of the earliest literary men to go to Australia. His efforts at finding gold led to various misadventures until he returned to England to writing his best novels. All edges gilt. Black morocco label is partially gone but condition is very good.
